| Developments at Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport is currently improving as per the timescale
detailed in the airports development strategy. All three terminals
are currently undergoing improvement work and are expected
to be completed by late 2005. Improvements are meant to improve
services and enhance the visitor experience, catering for
the expected increase in passenger throughput. Other developments
include expanding car parks.
Developments to Car Parking Facilities at Manchester Airport
Currently, development work is underway outside Terminal
1. The work will improve traffic congestion around the terminal
and the number of parking spaces outside the terminal area
will increase for over 400 cars places, courtesy vehicles
and mini buses in the collection zone outside arrivals.
Terminal Devlopments at Manchester Airport
All three terminals will under go development work over the
next year with an aim to be complete by 2005. In Terminal
1 work has already begun to enhance the passenger transfer
procedure, add new lounges, add new check in desks, reconfigure
the departure lounge and work is being implemented to improve
the outbound security control points adding new security screening
equipment.
Terminal 2 has seen the completion of three important developments
over the past year. A new lounge facility has been completed,
which offers high speed internet access, fax and phone facilities
and a quiet relaxing environment to work in. A new lounge
was completed in summer 2001 which offers seating for approximatley
800 passenger at four gates. In addition to the new lounges
is the new Disabled Adult Changing Facility offering a private
changing facility with electronically adjustable changing
bench and wash facilities.
At Terminal 3, the smallest of Manchester Airport's terminals,
a new common lounge has been created along side improvements
for departing passengers. The new lounge grants easier access
to existing facilities such as the tax free stores and other
retail units.
